Music Director

Mathew Lane has worked for Friends School of Baltimore since 2001, managing the after-school music program and accompanying all choral concerts and musical theater shows in the Middle and Upper Schools.

Additionally, he has served on the faculties of Goucher College and Notre Dame of Maryland University, teaching piano, class piano and musicianship. He was the organist and traditional choir director at Sacred Heart Parish in Glyndon from 2018-2020, and is currently the Director of Music at the St. Jude Shrine in Baltimore. 

Since 2001, he has performed extensively with the Maryland State Boychoir in concerts and on tour. From 2016-2019, he was the Music Director for Young Actors Theatre in Owings Mills, Maryland, where he directed, among other productions, Lin Manuel-Miranda’s “In the Heights” in 2016. 

Additional theater credits include pit piano for the Baltimore Municipal Opera’s 2001 production of Bizet’s Carmen, as well as Amahl and the Night Visitors and Mozart’s The Magic Flute, also at Municipal. 

He lives in Towson with his wife, soprano Rebecca Rossello, and their two children, Ana and Nicholas.
