Jim Bigwood

Jim Bigwood

Show business runs in Jim’s DNA. His grand aunt Irene was a lion tamer with the circus in the late 19th century. Jim was bitten by the bug after he trod the stage in his 4th grade play as Aladdin; once he heard the audience laugh at his lines he was hooked.

A heralded audio engineer, Jim was recruited to play several comic characters on radio for both the Jones & West Show on WBAL AM and for Courduff and Lopez on 98 Rock. Jim was also Dan Rodricks' announcer on his nightly radio show on WBAL in the early 1990s.

Throughout the 1980’s, Jim did many commercial voice-overs in Baltimore and Washington. He also played an uncredited police officer in the Warner Bros. movie Meteor Man starring Robert Townsend; Jim was paid handsomely to shave off his mustache for the part.

Jim's favorite role was as Boss Polyester in the Dan Rodricks’ play “Baltimore, You Have No Idea.” These days Jim can be seen from time to time on Maryland Public Television as a pledge drive host.
