The title of our play is taken from the title of a book written by the late Theodore R. McKeldin when he was Mayor of Baltimore. The book, published in 1964, celebrated the three famous philanthropists — Pratt, Hopkins and Peabody — who contributed greatly to the quality of Baltimore life.
The McKeldin family has made a limited number of copies of No Mean City available as a gift to those who contribute to the McKeldin-Wayner Family Student Success Fund for the Libraries, a special fund at the University of Maryland to enhance learning programs at the McKeldin Library.
